GAS BOILER SERVICE – Standard:

The Gas Boiler service includes one Boiler Service and one Boiler Safety Check (as described below). A Boiler service does not include any additional labour or any parts required to repair the Boiler or the heating system. If a part or additional labour is required

to repair the Boiler or the heating system, this will be quoted for separately.

The price for the Boiler Service is for the service of a domestic

central heating boiler under 35kW output. The boiler service is for System Boilers and Standard Boilers and includes combination or condensing / high efficiency type boilers but does not include back boilers – an additional surcharge of €10 will apply.

A Service Engineer will carry out a full service on the Boiler in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and/or the guidelines as laid down in IS:813 2002 (edition 2) (including Amendment 1:2004 and Amendment 2:2005). The following is a list of minimum checks and tests we will carry out on the Boiler, where applicable:

  1. Check the condition of and permitted location of the appliance and its  electrical controls;

  2. Inspect flue integrity, suitability, condition, size, route, functionality, terminal, cowl, guard and installation standard;

  3. Check ventilation as per manufacturer’s instructions or as outlined in  IS:813 2002 (edition 2 – ensuring correct location, size, type and source;

  4. Conduct electrical safety tests including fuse rating, isolation switch, polarity, earth continuity, resistance to earth, short circuit test, supply  voltage.

  5. Check accessibility, functionality and condition of isolating valves;

  6. Inspect / clean fan unit and evaluate performance and functionality;

  7. Inspect / clean heat exchanger as per manufacturer’s instructions;

  8. Inspect / clean / adjust main and pilot burners and injectors;

  9. Check / clean / adjust ignition and ionisation electrodes;

  10. Check flame picture;

  11. Check temperature control;

  12. Check operation of boiler safety devices;

  13. Check appliance gas rating;

  14. Conduct burner pressure tests;

  15. Sample air intake analysis;

  16. Sample flue gas analysis to ensure efficient and safe operation of the appliance;

  17. Conduct appliance gas safety tests;

  18. Adjustment time and temperature controls as required;

  19. Complete RGII appliance conformance certificate and leave copy with the Customer.

The Service Engineer may conduct such other tests and checks as he may determine are reasonably required for specific types of gas boilers.

Boiler Safety Check

During a Boiler Service Visit, a Service Engineer will check the condition and  integrity of the Boiler in accordance with Annex C of IS 813:2002 (edition 2) (including Amendment 1:2004 and Amendment 2:2005)

What is not included

What is not covered by an annual boiler service & safety check

  1. Any maintenance or remedial work is your responsibility and does not form part of this agreement. Such work will need to be completed at your cost.

  2. The cost of any remedial work, repair or parts needed for any fault, which is found before or during the annual gas boiler service.

  3. Checks or maintenance required on any gas appliance other than the boiler.

  4. Any servicing, faults or defects outside the boiler

  5. Any breakdown assistance other than in the event that you have a breakdown within 24 hours of the service.

OIL / KEROSENE BOILER SERVICE – STANDARD:

A professional service engineer should carry out and anual boiler service and safety check to ensurethat your oil boiler is operating normally and safely.Having your oil boiler and oil burner regularly serviced will ensure your oil boiler is working to the manufacturers specfications as designed by the oil burner and boilers manufacturer.

This will help prolong the service life of the boiler and the burnerand reduce the risk of expensive repairs during the Boilers service life.

ANUAL SERVICE CHECK LIST:

Boiler Checks

  1. Replace fuel filter if required

  2. Check the operation of the fuel shut-off valve

  3. check for cracks or damage in the combustion chamber & components

  4. Inspect, clean/adjust the ignition electrodes

  5. Clean the burner blast tube and diffuser

  6. Check the draft stabilizer

  7. Check the transformer, H.T leads and the porcelain insulators for cracking or chipping

  8. Clean and check the photocell

  9. Clean internal combustion and heat transfer surfaces

  10. Replace burner injector/nozzle

  11. Adjust fuel pressure, air presure and diffuser to obtain correct fame picture

  12. Check operation of the high temprature limit thermostat

  13. Check operation of flame failure device

  14. check air inlets to the boiler house and burner air intakes for debris, blockages and size

Visual Checks

  1. Check the operation of the draft regulator

  2. Check for corrosion on the external boiler casing, flue, electrical controls and the imediate piping, valves, pump and components

  3. Check for oil leaks from the tank and above ground pipework and fittings.

As boiler services do not address the wet side of the system ie. the radiators, not water cylender of the pipework. For just an additional €10 our engineers will carry out a thourough visual inspection of the heating system. This can identfy potential problems, presence of sludge, defective controls, corrosion and leaks.
